Gatton Manor in Ockley, Surrey is pleased to announce that it is now under new ownership and management. Gatton Manor was recently purchased by a private Hotelier & investor continuing the tradition of family ownership at Gatton.  Set in 200 acres of tranquil, scenic Surrey countryside, Gatton Manor Hotel and Golf Club is a complete golf, business and leisure venue.  Its quality facilities include stylish bedrooms, championship golf course, conference facilities, fitness suite, bar & restaurant.  All this, combined with an impressive freshly prepared food offering and multiple award winning service, make Gatton Manor a perfect retreat for leisure, business & golf break visitors. Close to the towns of Guildford, Cranleigh, Dorking and Horsham, 1 hour from London and only 20 mintues from Gatwick.

General Manager Colin Cole has been appointed to head up the operation and brings with him 27 years of experience in Hotel and Leisure Management within the UK.

Colin Cole said “Since arriving in September I have been delighted with the warm welcome I have received from the members and staff at Gatton Manor and have to say that I could not have wished for a more idyllic place to drive to work each day.  I have had the luxury of a comprehensive two week handover from the outgoing owners, enabling a smooth transition of ownership with no disruption to service whatsoever.  Having inherited an extremely professional team with a wealth of knowledge and experience, the overriding message to both members and guests of Gatton Manor is that it is very much business as usual.  I am a firm believer that the success of any business is down to the people and personalities within it and given the current success and reputation at Gatton Manor, my main focus over the coming months will be to ensure that the team remains stable, highly motivated and ready to take the business to the next level. “

Gatton Manor has numerous attractions, the obvious one being a picture postcard setting within the Surrey countryside, however what attracted the new owner was the very same attraction that convinced the Kielys to buy 7 years before; that being the tremendous warm atmosphere and spirit within the hotel and club. Colin Cole – General Manager says “it is this tradition of warmth that you see day in and day out at the club which helps to explain why there are so many members who have been at the club for so long, some even as long as thirty years and it is this atmosphere that we will look to harness and keep at the heart of everything we do in the future. The priority now is to build upon the past successes and to strengthen the core areas of the business, namely; golf membership, society golf, conferencing and Gatton Manor’s already strong reputation as a Wedding and Private Event venue offering exclusive use.”

The improvements made at Gatton Manor over the last 7 years to both the hotel and the golf course has been significant under the ownership and leadership of husband and wife Belinda and Patrick Kiely.  A testament to the outstanding quality of the course has been the hosting of the PGA Surrey Open in 2010, 2011 as well as hosting The Jamega Tour in 2010. Most recently the course played host to the Surrey 5’s Final and in each event the quality of the greens were highly commended by the players and organisers alike. The PGA Surrey Open is again being staged at Gatton Manor in July 2012.

With the new ownership comes the promise of major investment and development of Gatton Manor and its facilities including additional luxury accommodation, Spa facilities and further improvements to the golf course itself which will undoubtedly place Gatton Manor as ‘the venue of choice for both Business and Leisure in the region’.  Whilst development work is not planned to start until Autumn 2013 at the earliest, the steady program of improvements to the course itself are set to continue through the direction and dedication of Course Manager Robert Sebbage and his greens team. 

Max Newman, The Teaching Golf Professional adds strength and further experience to the team at Gatton Manor.  Max was the winner of a TP Tour Series Event in 2011 and with such tours currently being played at the top 100 courses in the country this is an event that Gatton Manor will undoubtedly be looking to host in the near future.
