On Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June, Gatton Manor held its annual Club Championship, with over 100 members competing.
For two days over 36 holes, the members battled against one another in a gruelling head to head competition. The course was in peak condition, the weather was calm and the conditions for play were immaculate.
Patrick Kiely, proprietor of Gatton Manor comments,” The standard of competition is consistently improving and members are certainly becoming more competitive in their game. Continuous improvements have taken place on the golf course over the past year and I like to think that this is reflected in the scoring achieved in competition.”
In a tight finish John Humphries was announced as the winner of the Men’s competition with a total score of 155. This was John’s sixth win in the event, reclaiming the title of ‘Club Champion’.
Recent recruit Shelley Mulville, displayed her skills with a remarkable168 score to win in the Women’s Competition. Securing a new club record on the Women’s Championship Board.
Expressing their delight, John and Shelley raised their glasses and declared a toast to the Course Manager, Paul Hobden and his team saying,” Over the past two years Paul and his team have transformed Gatton Manor golf course into a true quality championship course. Golfers have no excuses in not playing well at Gatton Manor!”
